Wood use policies

We are aware we’re living in a world which is rapidly changing, resources – even renewable ones, like wood, are rapidly decreasing, mostly due to mass production and a way of life based on consumerism.

We believe in responsible wood choice and use.

Our respect for the wood itself is total, we use as much as it is possible, every inch of the wood we cut. The ancient masters had the same respectful approach for a material that was, yesterday more than today, expensive, adapted their crafting techniques to save and valorize wood (see for instance the soundboard bending techniques).

We mainly use European woods, where necessary we use tropical woods with CITES certification and which origin can be traced to exclude human rights abuse or environmental crimes. We also keep an eye on new synthetic materials that we can use instead of forbidden one like ivory, tortoise shell or whale bone.
