Jacobus Stainer: Bass Gamba

Bass Gamba after Jacobus Stainer, renowned German luthier active in Absam during the 17th century, said to have practiced in the Nicola Amati’s Workshop in Cremona.

This instrument has particular building features the high sounboard archings, bassbar positioning, and the big soundpost plate)  that make its sound very peculiar and close to the one of the Cello.
